Attention! Do not start the engine or let it run in an unventilated area. Exhaust fumes can cause asphyxiation, unconsciousness and death.
Attention! Do not turn on the starter if you suspect an interruption in the ignition system (on versions with petrol engine).
Attention! Do not turn on the starter after a number of unsuccessful attempts to start the engine.
Do not let the starter operate for more than 10 seconds per set. Release the ignition key as soon as the engine starts. If the engine does not start, return the ignition key to its original position and repeat the starting procedure.
To facilitate starting the engine when the outside temperature is below 0°C, depress the clutch pedal simultaneously with the starter. After starting the engine, gradually release it.
Attention! If the engine does not start, check the position of the inertial fuel switch button (see relevant paragraph paragraph 2) and reset the switch if necessary.
Warning. Never run the engine in areas covered with dry leaves or dry grass. Heating of the exhaust system is fraught with fire.
Variants with petrol engines
- To start the engine:
- Make sure the parking brake is applied.
- Move the shift lever to neutral position.
- Turn the key to the starter position (key switching sequence - see «ignition switch» in paragraph 2 of this chapter) and release it as soon as the engine starts.
Attention! Do not depress the accelerator pedal when starting the engine.
Attention! Do not operate the starter for more than 10 seconds at a time.
If the engine does not start after the first attempt, turn off the ignition and try again.
Diesel engine options
To start the engine:
- Make sure the parking brake is applied.
- Move the shift lever to neutral position.
- Turn the key to position M (starter activation, preheating) and check that the glow plug indicator light is on.
Note. If the engine is hot, the preheat indicator lamp may not come on.
- Wait for the glow plug indicator lamp to turn off. The hotter the engine, the faster it will go out.
- As soon as the lamp goes out, immediately turn the key to the start position. If you wait too long, the advantage provided by glow plugs will be lost.
- Release the key immediately after starting the engine.
Attention! Do not depress the accelerator pedal when starting the engine.
Attention! Do not operate the starter for more than 10 seconds at a time.
If the engine does not start after the first attempt, turn off the ignition and try again.
