Figure 6.123. GKN outer joint

The front wheel drive consists of an outer and inner constant velocity joint (CV joint) connected to each other by a shaft. The outer joint transmits torque and provides angular movements of the front suspension and turning of the front wheels. The inner joint transmits torque and provides angular movements of the front suspension. Two types of drives are installed on the car: manufactured by GKN (figure 6.123 and 6.124) and PSA production (figure 6.125 and 6.126).

Building 1 (see figure 6.126) the hinge can be made of treated or untreated steel. There is an option when the hinge body is connected to the tail by welding.

Mudguards

In mudguards 1 (figure 6.127) thermoplastic is filled with TOTAL N3945 grease. This grease is dark gray in color. It is supplied in a package with green marks.

Mudguards 1 (figure 6.128), made of neoprene, look like rubber. On the latest cars, these covers are installed only on the gearbox side. These covers are filled with BERUTOX GGF61 grease. Fresh grease is beige.

Attention! TOTAL N3945 and BERUTOX GGF61 lubricants cannot be mixed.

On some models, covers are installed with rings 1 (figure 6.129) to prevent rupture of covers under the action of centrifugal forces.

To secure to the hinge body, mudguards may have one or two belts, as shown in Figure 6.130.

Mudguards can be glued to the mudguard holder - options A and C (figure 6.131) or put on a cover holder and secured with clamps - option B.

Front Wheel Drive Markings
