- turn off the ignition;
- remove the decorative battery cover;
- disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
- remove the left front wheel arch mudguard;

- unscrew bolt 1 from under the left front wheel arch (see Figure 5.20) battery support fastenings;
- remove the battery from the car;
- remove the battery support;
- release the wiring harness from the clamps and move it to the side;
- unscrew the three bolts and remove the wiring harness supports;
- unscrew the nut and remove the positive wire from the starter solenoid terminal and move it to the side;
- disconnect the electrical connector from the starter solenoid terminal;

- unscrew bolts 1, 2 and 4 (figure 9.4) starter mounts and remove the starter from underneath the vehicle. Mark the location A of the longer starter mounting bolt 4.
To install the starter:
- make sure that the centering sleeve 3 is installed on the starter;
- install the starter and secure it with the longer bolt 4, tightening it to a torque of 20 Nm;
- screw in bolts 1 and 2 of the starter mount and tighten them to a torque of 20 N·m;
- connect the electrical connector to the starter solenoid terminal;
- tighten the nut securing the wire to the positive terminal of the starter solenoid relay to a torque of 20 N·m;
- install the wire harness supports and secure them with three bolts;
- install the battery back into place;
- connect the ground wire to the battery;
- initiate all electronic systems.
