Brake Master Cylinder — removal, installation, and repair (Peugeot Eurovans 806)

Removing and installing the master brake cylinder is a fairly simple operation and does not present any difficulties. The master brake cylinder is located on the end side of the brake booster. Before removing the master cylinder, the brake fluid should be drained from the reservoir.

1. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor plug and release the wire from the mount.

2. Loosen the union nuts of both brake lines and move the lines to the side.

3. Remove both master cylinder nuts on the front side of the brake booster.

4. Carefully remove the brake master cylinder. To prevent brake fluid leaking from the cylinder from getting on the paintwork, hold a rag under the cylinder.

Installation of the master brake cylinder is carried out in reverse order. Tighten the nuts securing the master brake cylinder to the brake booster with a torque of 20 Nm, and the union nuts securing the brake lines with a torque of 15 Nm.

5. Fill the expansion tank with fresh brake fluid and bleed the air from the brake system (see the relevant chapter). Make sure the brakes are working properly before driving.

Repair



It is not recommended to repair the master brake cylinder. If it fails, a new one should be installed. When ordering a new brake master cylinder, please provide the vehicle model, identification number and year of manufacture.

When replacing the master cylinder, the expansion tank can be removed.
