- Move the steering wheel all the way to one side. Place a piece of adhesive tape on the top side of the steering wheel. Place a line on the adhesive tape ("A" in Figure 208).
Figure 208. Middle position of the steering control. When the mark (A) on the steering wheel is in the middle position, the lengths of the steering rods should be the same. The steering rods must have the same length (B) between the arrows.
- Turn the steering wheel to the opposite stop and count the exact number of turns of the steering wheel.
- Divide the measured value by 2 and turn the steering wheel exactly this number of turns.
- Check that the wheels are positioned exactly in the straight ahead position.
- If this is not the case, adjust the steering rod on the outward side of the wheel to set the wheel to the straight ahead position.
- Check the position of the steering wheel. If it is not in the center position, move the steering wheel accordingly.
