Clutch — general description (Peugeot 306)

The vehicles are equipped with a dry single-plate clutch with a driving disc with diaphragm springs. In this series of cars, clutches of two different diameters are installed. Detailed information on this matter can be found in the size and adjustment tables. The clutch is cable driven, but there are differences here too. Clutch cable or can be adjusted (on engines with a displacement of 1.4 liters) or has so-called clutch pedal support. In addition, the drive methods are different. On turbodiesel and 16-valve engines, the clutch is disengaged by "pulling", and on other engines by "pressing".
The drive disc and diaphragm springs cannot be disassembled and are replaced as a set if damaged.
