The knock sensor has a built-in piezoelectric potentiometer. Information about engine knock coming from the sensor allows the engine ECU to make ignition timing correction. The signal is generated by detonation of the fuel-air mixture in one of the 4 cylinders. When a signal appears, the sensor transmits voltage peak data to the engine ECU. Having received information about knock, the engine ECU reduces the ignition timing and simultaneously enriches the fuel mixture.
Features of electrical equipment
The knock sensor has a two-pin connector.
Purpose of connector contacts:
- channel 1 - signal (+);
- channel 2 - signal (-).
