Remove:
  • decorative battery cover;
  • damper drive.

Disconnect the positive and negative terminals of the battery

Remove:
  • air filter assembly (see the corresponding operation);
  • glow plugs (see the corresponding operation).

Install the spark plug simulator on cylinder No.1 and tighten to 10 Nm.

Install the spark plug simulator on cylinder No.1 and tighten to 10 Nm.

Connect the compression tester to the simulator.

Connect the positive and negative terminals of the battery.

Turn on the starter for 10 seconds (with the engine control unit disconnected).

The pressure in the cylinder should be 20±5 bar (for a new engine).

Remove the devices.

Apply the same method for cylinders #2, #3 and #4.

Apply the same method for cylinders #2, #3 and #4.


Note: The difference between the two cylinders should not exceed 5 bar.




Caution: If the pressure readings are low, check the condition of the air filter and cylinder head gasket before planning to disassemble the two.


Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Install the glow plugs.

Install the remaining parts in reverse order.
