1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the engine with a water soluble solvent. Make sure that dirt does not get on the injection pump and generator.
2. If possible, disassemble the engine on a clean work bench. A concrete floor is not recommended as this can bring dirt into the engine. If you still work on the floor, it should be covered.
3. In addition to the usual set of tools, you will need wooden blocks to support the engine, a notebook and pencil, as well as boxes with compartments or many plastic bags.
4. You will need a crayon for marking (make sure that the applied marks are not erased during the cleaning process of the parts).
5. If possible, install removed nuts, washers, etc. to their original places (so as not to confuse them later).
6. You will need plenty of rags and newspapers to clean up spilled oil, fuel and coolant.
7. Do not throw away old gaskets as you will need them for comparison with new ones, and also as a template for making new gaskets.
