Range of engine models (Peugeot 306)

Given the large number of different engine models, it is important to familiarize yourself with the sections that relate specifically to a given engine type when performing work and purchasing parts. As already mentioned, from a technical point of view, engines are divided into three groups, and if we consider 16-valve engines, then into four groups:

• 1360 and 1587 cm³ - TU engines
• 1870 cm³ – XU7 engines
• 1998 cm³ – XU10 J2 engines
• 1988 cm³ – XU10 J4 engines (16-valve)

The main difference between individual engines is the use of an aluminum cylinder block with "wet" cylinder liners or a cast iron block.
