- remove the battery cover;
- turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
- protect the front seats with covers;
- move the front seats all the way back;
- disable the integrated airbag and seat belt system;
- remove the safety lock;

- unscrew bolt 1 (figure 7.1) steering shaft mounts;
- turn on the anti-theft steering wheel lock;
- loosen the steering wheel mounting bolt by turning it a few turns;
- slide the steering wheel off the splines, if necessary, hitting it with your hands from the back along its perimeter;
- set the wheels to move straight ahead;
- unscrew the steering wheel mounting bolt;

- use chalk, marker or paint to mark A (figure 7.2) alignment on the steering wheel and the end of the steering shaft. Marks are necessary to reinstall the steering wheel to its original position;
- disconnect the electrical connectors from the steering wheel;
- remove the steering wheel, first passing the electrical connectors one by one through the cutouts in the steering wheel;
- remove the steering column cover mounting screws located under the lower cover.
- remove the lower steering column cover;

- release from clamps B (figure 7.3) upper steering column cover and remove it;
- remove the COM 2000 steering column switch unit;

- move latch 1 to the right (figure 7.4), holding the wires;

- remove ignition switch 1 (figure 7.5) with anti-theft device;
- disconnect the rack valve stem;

- unscrew four bolts 1 (figure 7.6) steering column mounts;
- remove the steering column.
Checking the technical condition of the steering column:
- check the steering column for damage and wear;
- check the smoothness and ease of rotation of the steering column shaft.
Install the steering column in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- when installing the steering wheel, follow the marks made before removal;
- install an airbag;
- connect the centralized airbag system and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners;
- make sure all electrical appliances are working properly;
- initialize all computers.
