When one of these systems is activated, the indicator located in the instrument cluster flashes.
These systems work with and complement the anti-lock braking system.
The ASR system optimizes the distribution of traction force between the wheels to avoid wheel slip by influencing the operation of the brake mechanisms of individual wheels and the operation of the engine. It also helps improve the vehicle's directional stability during acceleration.
The ESP system automatically acts on the brakes of individual wheels and the engine to return the vehicle to the intended trajectory if the actual trajectory deviates significantly from that set by the driver.
Disabling and enabling ASR/ESP systems
Sometimes, under particularly difficult driving conditions (starting in mud, getting stuck in snow, moving on unsteady ground, etc.), it becomes necessary to disable the ASR and ESP systems so that the wheels, while slipping, provide the car with traction on the road.
Press the "ESP OFF" switch located in the center of the instrument panel.
A warning light inside the switch illuminates, and a buzzer sounds and the message "ASR/ESP systems deactivated" appears on the instrument cluster. From this point on, the ASR and ESP systems no longer have any effect on engine operation.
The systems are switched back on automatically when the speed reaches 30 km/h or when the switch button is pressed again.
Checking the ASR/ESP system's functionality
If the ASR/ESP system malfunctions, the switch indicator lamp flashes, the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up, a buzzer sounds, and the message "ASR/ESP system malfunction" appears on the multifunction display.
Important! To check the system's functionality, please contact a Peugeot service station.
Please note: The ESP system can provide additional safety under normal driving conditions. Its presence in the vehicle's equipment should not encourage the driver to take unjustified risks and accelerate the vehicle to excessive speeds.
The normal operation of the system is based on mandatory compliance with the manufacturer's requirements for the quality of tires and wheels, brake system components, on-board electronics, as well as the quality of assembly work and maintenance at Peugeot service stations.
