The car is equipped with three-point seat belts.
By adjusting the height of the front seat belt attachment points, you can achieve the best placement of the shoulder belt.
Front seat belt height adjustment
Pic. 1.47. Lock Location (1) Upper seat belt support
Press the latch 1 (pic. 1.47) and slide the upper seat of the belt up or down until the shoulder branch passes through the middle of the shoulder and in no case through the throat, then release the lock.
After adjustment, pull the belt to make sure that the upper belt support is securely locked.
Belt tensioners
The degree of safety of the driver and passengers fastened with seat belts will increase due to the installation of tensioners and pressure limiters.
In moderate to severe frontal collisions, pyrotechnic tensioners instantly press the driver's and passenger's bodies against the seatbacks.
The pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioner system only works when the ignition is on. Pressure limiters reduce the amount of force the seat belts exert on the body of the driver and front passenger in the event of a collision.
Attention! Depending on the severity and nature of the impact, the belts can be tightened by the pyrotechnic tensioners before and regardless of the deployment of the airbags. In any case, when the system is activated, the airbag warning lamp in the instrument cluster lights up. After any collision, it is necessary to check the operability of the entire system in the conditions of a Peugeot service station.
Attention! All elements of the seat belt pretensioner system are designed to operate for 10 years from the date of manufacture of the vehicle. At the end of the specified period, it is necessary to replace the system.
Rear Seat Belts
The rear seats are equipped with three seat belts, each of which is attached at three points and has an inertial coil. The side seat belts are equipped with tension force limiters.
Checking the condition of the seat belts
Make sure the belts are not twisted as a result of improper installation. If the belts are twisted or stick when retracted, pull out the belt all the way out to allow it to be straightened. Then return the belt to its original position.
Pull the belt out completely and release it so that it also fully retracts. If the belt sticks when moving in both directions, then check its cleanliness, the presence of dirt, grease and other foreign matter on the braid. The belt should only be washed with mild soapy water. If the belt cannot be flushed with this solution, it should be replaced.
Check the condition of all belt attachment points. The mounting bolts must be securely tightened. Remove any signs of corrosion where the belt attaches to the body. Replace the fastening parts affected by corrosion.
Replace the belt also if it has the following damage:
- thread breaks or «fraying» belt;
- cuts on the loops on the edges of the belt;
- curvature of the braid;
- the presence of crumbled areas or cuts.
Replace the belt assembly if the following damage is found:
- if the belt buckle is not securely fixed;
- if the belt release button is loose;
- if the buckle does not release the belt;
- if the effort required to release the belt has increased;
- if there are cracks on the surface of the buckle.
Attention! Belts, buckles and fastenings periodically inspect and check their serviceability. If belts are removed for any reason, ensure they are properly installed. For trouble-free operation of the tensioner, keep the seat belts clean. If the buckles or tensioning mechanism are damaged, replace the belts.
Warning! Replace belts that have been severely stretched in an accident.
When exposed to sunlight and chemicals, the belt tape loses its strength. Loss of original color (fading) replace the belt.
It is forbidden to treat the belt braid with chemical compounds, tint them or discolor them. The compounds will weaken the belt. Replace a belt that is discolored or chemically weakened.
Belts should always be changed as a set. It is forbidden to install buckles and belt tensioners that are not designed for this seat, or from other vehicles.
