Table of contents: Fuel pump voltage values 🠇 Influence of external factors 🠇
Models equipped with the Motronic MP3.2 system can be equipped with a fuel pump installed inside the fuel tank or externally next to the fuel tank.
Fuel pump located outside near the fuel tank (see illustration 5.39).
A roller type fuel pump, located near the fuel tank, receives fuel from the fuel tank and pumps it to the fuel line through the fuel filter.
A fuel pressure damper is installed in front of the fuel line to reduce vibration of the fuel pump. The shock absorber is similar to a fuel pressure regulator, but without the vacuum tube.
Fuel pump installed inside the fuel tank (see illustration 5.40)
The fuel pump is mounted vertically in the fuel tank and includes an external and internal gear block.
Fuel pump voltage values
Terminal numbers
See illustrations 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, 11.5, 11.6
Note: Power is only available when the crankshaft is cranking or the engine is running. Starting the fuel pump when the ignition is on (the engine is turned off), necessary to bypass the relay.
Influence of external factors
- The battery contacts are damaged
- Ignition switch
- Wiring
- Relay
- Inertia switch or fuse
- Low battery voltage
- The fuel filter in the fuel tank is clogged
- The fuel lines are damaged
