Pic. 1.14. Car keys and ignition lock: a - standard; b - with remote control; c - ignition switch
The car is equipped with a set of keys - main and spare. Keys (pic. 1.14) allow you to independently unlock the locks of the front doors, trunk lids, control the connection of the front passenger airbag and the fuel filler flap, turn on the ignition.
By pressing button A (see fig. 1.14, b) The remote key can be used to lock the car from a distance. By pressing button B on the remote control, you can open the car doors. The execution of commands is confirmed by the flashing of the lamps in the direction indicators.
Egnition lock (see fig. 1.14, in) mounted on the steering column and is designed to supply power to the vehicle systems, authorized engine start, block the engine start system and block the steering wheel rotation. In the ignition lock, the key can occupy four positions:
- «S» - the steering wheel is locked, you can insert and remove the key;
- «A» - the steering wheel is unlocked, power is supplied to auxiliary consumers;
- «M» - ignition on (for a diesel engine - preheating of glow plugs);
- «D» - turn on the starter, start the engine.
After removing the ignition key, slightly shake the steering wheel so that it clicks into place. When installing the ignition key from position «S» into position «A» A slight steering wheel wiggle is recommended to help unlock the steering wheel.
If an electronic anti-theft system is installed on the car, the ignition key is a direct element for blocking the engine start circuits (ignition, fuel supply and starter). The engine can only be started with the key of the car on which it is installed, as it has an electronic recognition circuit built into it «friend or foe».
