Wheel replacement is the most frequently performed self-operation. The spare wheel is located on the holder outside under the floor of the body in the trunk area (pic. 1.10). It can be either full size or narrow size type «biscuit».
Change the wheel in the following order:
- park your car away from traffic (roadside, site);
- set the front wheels in a straight ahead position;
- unlock the steering by removing the ignition key and apply the parking brake;
- Engage 1st gear or reverse gear if the vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission (by car with «automatically» set the shift lever to position «R»);
- turn on the emergency light alarm;
- put up an emergency stop sign or a flashing light;
- take out the spare wheel;
- install a wheel chock on the opposite wheel;
- unscrew the bolt of the wheel holder on the trunk floor, under the mat, using the wrench 1 (pic. 1.10);
- raise the spare wheel holder and unhook the lock (hook) holder fixation;
- take out the jack 2, which is located inside the spare wheel;
- place the jack at the receiving socket E closest to the wheel to be replaced (see fig. 1.5) so that its support rests completely on the road, and the console enters the rectangular opening of the receiving socket;
- remove the decorative cap and loosen the wheel mount;
- raise the car so that the wheel to be changed is off the road surface;
- unscrew the wheel bolts and remove the wheel;
- clean and dry the threaded holes for the wheel bolts;
Attention! Bolts must be clean and dry before installation.
Attention! Do not lubricate bolts and hole threads.
- install the spare wheel and hand-tighten the wheel bolts;
- lower the car and remove the jack;
- finally tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to 85 Nm (8.5 kgf·m);
- install the wheel cap, following the passage of the valve. The hood is installed with a locking click.
