Parking brake (Peugeot 206)

The parking brake is designed to hold the car in place when parking on a level road or on a slight slope. When the parking brake is applied (engaged), the rear wheels are locked by the drum brake mechanism.

The parking brake is applied (engaged) by a lever located between the front seats and is automatically locked by a ratchet mechanism.

When the ignition key is in position "A", the indicator with the symbol "!" lights up on the instrument panel.



To release the car from the parking brake, release the lever - pull it up slightly, press the button (figure 1.50) and lower the lever down until it stops.

Lighting indicators "!" and "Stop", buzzer signal (at a speed of 10 km/h) and the message on the display "Parking brake not released" indicate that the brake remains applied or is not completely released.
