The valve lift motor changes the camshaft angle on command from the engine ECU, this allows you to change the intake valve lift from minimum to maximum in 300 ms.
Connector pin assignment:
- pin 1 - power supply 12 V;
- contact 2 — «weight».
Attention. It is forbidden to directly apply voltage to the valve lift motor, otherwise it will be damaged.
If the engine ECU detects a malfunction in the valve lift change system (valve position sensor, temperature rise of the valve lift motor above 175°C, etc.), the motor control goes into emergency operation.
In this mode, the air supply is controlled through the motorized throttle body.
Note. In this mode, it practically does not affect the operation of the engine.
If the engine-ECU detects a malfunction of the valve lift motor (blocking, temperature exceeding 190°C, malfunction of the power relay of the electric motor, etc.), the motor control is switched to emergency mode.
The engine control unit does not allow any more changes in the position of the intake valves, so the system remains in the last selected position. At the same time, a throttle valve is also used to control the amount of air supplied. However, the amount of air supplied depends on the position of the valves at the time of the malfunction, which significantly affects the operation of the engine.
Note. In this mode, starting the engine may not be possible.
