Recommended accessories:
1 - caliber for adjusting the engine flywheel 4507-T;
2-camshaft lock 4533-TS1;
3 - locking finger 0194.A;
4 - belt retainer 4533-T.AD.
Removal
Raise and support the vehicle so that the front wheels are off the floor.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove:
- accessory drive belt (see the corresponding operation);
- crankshaft pulley.
Remove the protective cover.
Remove the timing belt cover.
Remove the oil filter.
Remove the spark plugs to make it easier to turn the crankshaft.
Secure the engine.
Remove the mounting bolts and the upper right engine mount (see relevant tightening torque tables).
Turn the engine crankshaft clockwise by the bolt of its pulley to a position that ensures the installation of the pin.
Fix the engine flywheel using the calibration pin 1.
Install tools 2 and 3. Remove the lower engine mount (9) assembly and the mounting bolt (8). Remove the lower timing belt cover (7).
Unscrew the nut (11).

Completely loosen the belt tension by acting on the tension roller (10).
Remove the timing belt.

Installation
Install the timing belt (new) in place, following the following order:
- intake camshaft pulley;
- exhaust camshaft pulley;
- idler pulley;
- crankshaft pulley;
- install fixture 4;
- coolant pump pulley;
- dynamic tensioner roller.
Remove tools 1-4.
Excessive belt tension

[Text taken from the website: PEUGEOTBOOK]
Position "a": tension roller in a loose position.
Position "b": tension roller in normal position.
Position "c": tension roller in position for increased tension.
Turn the tension roller (10) using a hexagon socket wrench (in area "e").
Position the pointer "d" in position "c".
Tighten the belt to the maximum within the specified range.
Tighten the tensioner roller mounting screw to 21 Nm.
Make four revolutions of the crankshaft in the direction of normal rotation.
Caution: Do not allow the crankshaft to turn in the opposite direction.
Check the installation of the timing mechanism by installing pins 1-3, then remove the devices.
Timing Belt Tension Adjustment

Loosen the nut while holding the tensioner pulley in place with an Allen key in area "e".
Then move the arrow "d" to the adjustment position "b".
Caution: The pointer "d" must not pass beyond the slot "b". Otherwise, repeat the belt tensioning operation.
Hold the tension roller (10) in this position using a hexagonal socket wrench. Tighten the tension roller mounting screw.
Caution: The tensioner roller must not turn when tightening its fastening. Otherwise, repeat the operation to tension the timing belt.
