Recommended accessories:
1 - set of plugs 0188.T;
2 - calibration pin for dual flywheel 0188-T;
3 - calibration pin for camshaft 0188-T.
Preliminary operation
Remove:
- damper drive;
- battery cover.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Raise and support the front of the vehicle.
Remove:
- soundproofing shield under the engine;
- right front mudguard.
Disconnect, plug and move aside using plugs 1:

- fuel supply pipe;
- fuel return pipe.
Support and lift the engine. Remove the flange and the right engine mount.
Move aside the wiring harness (1).
Remove:
- camshaft position sensor;
- cylinder head cover of the intake camshaft (2);
- timing belt upper cover bolts;
- upper timing drive cover (3).
Turn the crankshaft in the direction of normal rotation.
Align the black marks "b" and "c" of the chain with the teeth "a" and "b" of the camshaft drive sprockets (no more than 40 revolutions of the camshafts).
Caution: If it is not possible to align the marks on the chain and camshaft drive sprockets, first calibrate the camshaft drive (see "Removal and installation camshafts").
Fix:
- crankshaft using tool 2;
- camshaft gear using tool 3.
Install:
- cylinder head cover of the intake camshaft (2);
- 19 mounting bolts;
- camshaft position sensor (without tightening its mounting bolt).
Tighten the 19 intake valve cover bolts in the order shown.
Adjusting the camshaft angle sensor
Fix the flywheel at the check point using tool 2.
Reusable sensor: Position an 8.5 mm drill in the "e" area between the head cover above the intake camshaft (2) and the camshaft position sensor (5). Tighten the bolt (4) to 20 Nm. Remove tools 2 and 3.
New sensor: Install the camshaft position sensor (5) in front of the ring gear (camshaft sprocket). Tighten bolt (4) to 20 Nm. Remove tools 2 and 3.
Install the upper timing belt cover (3).
Install the wiring harness (1) in a new position.
Install the right engine mount and flange.
Secure the fuel inlet and outlet pipes.
Remove tool 1. Install the remaining parts in reverse order.
Lower the car onto its wheels. Connect the negative battery terminal.
