- Remove the pistons and connecting rods from the working sleeves (or holes) cylinders. Check again that the markings are applied.
- Remove the piston rings from the pistons one by one using special pliers. If the rings are to be reinstalled, re-mark them. If you don't have special pliers, the rings can be removed by sliding metal strips under the ring from opposite sides of the piston. To avoid scratches, be sure to place one of the strips under the ring joint.
- Remove the two retaining rings from the piston pin holes. The rings do not have "ears" and therefore require a small screwdriver to remove them.
- Place the pistons and connecting rods on a suitable support and use a drift to knock the piston pin out of the piston and connecting rod. If the pin is stuck tightly, you can heat the piston and connecting rod in boiling water. Pull out the connecting rod.
Separating the pistons and connecting rods is only necessary when replacing the pistons or when the connecting rods are damaged.
