Replacing the hub assembly with the bearing and axle (Peugeot 307)

To remove the hub assembly:
  • lift and secure the vehicle, leaving the rear wheels off the ground;
  • remove the rear wheels;

  • unscrew the bolts, remove the rear brake caliper 1 (figure 6.40) and tie the caliper to the body with soft wire. The caliper should not hang on the brake hose;
  • using a screwdriver blade as a lever, remove the protective cap 3 covering the hub mounting nut;
  • unscrew the bolt and remove the brake disc;
  • remove the ABS sensor;

  • on the back side of the rear brake cover, remove the four bolts 1 (figure 6.41) and remove the hub, bearing and hub axle as an assembly.

To install the hub assembly:


  • install the hub axle and secure it with bolts, after applying a thin layer of FREIN FILET grease to the bolt threads;
  • tighten the bolts to 63 Nm;
  • install the ABS sensor and secure it with the bolt, tightening it to a torque of 8 Nm;
  • install the brake disc and secure it with the bolt, tightening it to a torque of 10 Nm;
  • install the caliper and secure it with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 53 N·m;
  • install protective cap 3 covering the hub mounting nut;
  • install the wheels.
