- Place a jack with a wooden block under the engine and support the engine with it without lifting it.
- Unscrew and remove the right engine mount. Check the reliability of the engine installation on the jack.
- Remove the spare tire.
- Drain the coolant from the cooling system. If the coolant was added recently, store it in a container; otherwise, dispose of it according to the instructions.
- Disconnect the wires from the battery.
- Disconnect the electrical wires from the following components and assemblies: lighting system and turn signals, cooling fan, temperature switch on the water pump, temperature switch on the radiator, temperature switch on the cooling system nipple, glow plugs, fuel shut-off solenoid valve, ground wire from the diagnostic connector wiring harness. All disconnected wires must be marked accordingly.
- Unscrew the engine compartment hood lock from the radiator grille.
- Loosen the rear spare wheel mounting bolt on the bulkhead.
- After loosening the clamps, disconnect the hoses from the radiator.
- Disconnect the throttle cable and the idle speed control cable (cold engine starting).
- Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel tank.
- Disconnect the water hoses from the cylinder head.
- Unscrew the muffler pipe.
- Unscrew the two nuts of the front fascia of the car and two bolts on top (see Figure 211) and remove the following parts: radiator grille, air intake hose, water pump belt cover and belt, alternator and vacuum pump.
- Loosen and disconnect the hose above the cylinder head cover.
- Unscrew the diagnostic connector.
- Disconnect the injection pipes from the injectors.
- Loosen the hollow bolts and remove the cylinder head oil line between the pulleys and the cylinder head.
- Remove the cylinder head cover with gasket.
- Unscrew and remove the rocker arm shaft.
- In several passes, in the reverse order to that shown in Figure 331, loosen and unscrew the cylinder head bolts.

- Remove the cylinder head from the cylinder block. A tightly seated cylinder head can be removed by hitting it with a plastic or rubber hammer. You can insert two bent iron rods to lift the cylinder head.
- Pull the push rods out of the cylinder block one by one and fold them in the order of installation.
- Clean the contact surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block with a suitable cleaning fluid. Never clean surfaces with a hard scraper or sandpaper. Grinding of the cylinder head surface is allowed, but the head height must be within a certain range (116.3 mm) during processing.
- After removing the cylinder head, remove all attachments and remove the valves in the usual manner, as described in the relevant section.
