Disassembly and assembly of the primary shaft of the MA gearbox (Peugeot 206)

When disassembling and assembling the primary shaft, Peugeot service centers use the following special tool:

• universal puller Facom U53T;
• primary shaft retaining ring installation tool;
• device for mounting primary shaft bearings.

Disassemble the primary shaft in the following order:

• disassemble the gearbox as described above and remove the primary, secondary shafts and differential;

• press bearing 1 (figure 6.68) from the 4th gear side using the device shown in the figure;

• press bearing 1 (figure 6.69) from the 1st gear side using the device shown in the figure;

Assemble the primary shaft in the following order:

Caution! Removed bearings must be replaced each time. Check the teeth of the input shaft gears and the bearing surfaces.

• press in new bearing 1 (figure 6.70) from the 1st gear side using a tool;

• press in new bearing 1 (figure 6.71) from the 4th gear side, orienting the bearing so that groove A faces upward.
