Engine Overhaul — assembly sequence (Peugeot Partner I)

1. Before assembly, check that all new spare parts and necessary tools are available. Review the entire procedure to understand the nature of the work involved and ensure you have everything you need to assemble the engine. In addition to the usual tools and materials, when assembling an engine, you will need a suitable thread locking compound. For joints where gaskets are not used, a good quality liquid sealant will also be required. Peugeot/Citroen recommends the use of proprietary products specifically designed for each specific purpose (the names of the relevant products are cited in the text of each paragraph as necessary).

2. To save time and avoid unnecessary problems, it is recommended to assemble the engine in the following sequence:

• a) crankshaft (see paragraph 18);
• 6) pistons assembled with connecting rods (see paragraph 19);
• c) oil pump (see chapter 2B or 2B, whichever is applicable);
• d) oil pan (see chapter 2B or 2B, whichever is applicable);
• d) flywheel (see chapter 2B);
• e) cylinder head (see chapter 2B, 2B or paragraph 5 of this chapter, as applicable);
• g) the timing belt, as well as the corresponding tension and toothed pulleys (see chapter 2B or 2B, whichever is applicable);
• c) external elements of the engine.

3. Before assembling the engine, make sure that all engine parts are absolutely clean and dry. All faults must be corrected. The elements must be laid out on a completely clean work surface (or should be kept in separate containers).
