Antifreeze mixture (Peugeot 305)

1. In cold climates, when the air temperature can drop below zero, it is advisable to use a mixture of antifreeze and water in the cooling system. Antifreeze not only prevents the coolant from freezing, but also contains a corrosion inhibitor, which is especially important for modern engines made of alloys.

2. The manufacturer recommends using a mixture of 40% antifreeze and 60% pure water for the Peugeot 305 (preferably soft) water. The cooling system capacity is 5.8 liters, and to fill it with the correct concentration of antifreeze, 2.3 liters of antifreeze will be required.

3. Before pouring fresh mixture into the system, drain the old coolant and flush the system (see sections 2 and 3). The easiest way to make a mixture is to pour 1-1.5 liters of water into the system, then the required amount of antifreeze, and then water again until the system is full. The correct procedure for adding coolant is given in Section 4.

4. The antifreeze-water mixture should be changed every 2 years. From time to time (especially in autumn) the concentration of antifreeze in the mixture should be checked and antifreeze should be added if necessary. Special hydrometers for measuring antifreeze concentration are sold in auto stores.

5. Before adding a fresh mixture of antifreeze and water to the system, inspect all hoses and clamps and replace any that are in questionable condition.
