1. In cold climates, when the air temperature can drop below zero, it is desirable to use a mixture of antifreeze with water in the cooling system. Antifreeze not only prevents the coolant from freezing, but also contains a corrosion inhibitor, which is especially important for modern engines made of alloys.
2. The manufacturer recommends using a mixture of 40% antifreeze and 60% clean for the Peugeot 305 (preferably soft) water. The capacity of the cooling system is 5.8 liters and it will take 2.3 liters of antifreeze to fill it with the mixture of the correct concentration.
3. Before pouring fresh mixture into the system, drain the old coolant and flush the system (see sections 2 and 3). The easiest way to make a mixture is to pour 1-1.5 liters of water into the system, then the right amount of antifreeze and then again water until the system is full. The correct procedure for filling the coolant is given in section 4.
4. Antifreeze water mixture should be changed every 2 years. Occasionally (especially in autumn) check the concentration of antifreeze in the mixture and add antifreeze if necessary. Special hydrometers for measuring the concentration of antifreeze are sold in car dealerships.
5. Before pouring a fresh mixture of antifreeze with water into the system, inspect all hoses and clamps and replace those that are in doubt.
