To drain the water condensate, unscrew the bolt (1) on the side of the filter in Figure 405 and drain the fuel-water mixture until clean diesel fuel starts to flow out. Connect the hose and place the other end in a container placed underneath. After this, tighten the bolt.

The filter element is replaced as follows:
- Drain the fuel from the filter as described above.
- Unscrew the four bolts (2) in Figure 405 and remove the filter cover.
- Remove the filter element (1) in Figure 406 and remove the sealing ring (2). It may stick to the housing or to the filter element,
- Thoroughly clean the bottom of the housing and install a new filter element.
- Install the cover and O-ring, and tighten the four bolts evenly in a circle to 8 Nm. Coat the bolt threads with sealant.
- Tighten the drain bolt (1) in Fig. 405 and start the engine. Pump the hand pump (1) in Fig. 404 to fill the fuel filter and high-pressure fuel pump with fuel. There is no need to remove air, as air removal is carried out automatically through the air removal valve installed in the system. It is located at location (2) in Figure 407.
