To remove the tailgate of Peugeot SW vehicles:
  • turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
  • open the trunk door;
  • remove the upper part of the tailgate opening seal;
  • remove the upper rear side seat belt anchors for the 3rd row of seats;
  • remove the upper trim panels of the rear side of the body;
  • remove the upper trim panels of the rear pillar;
  • in the car's interior, remove the ceiling handles;
  • release the latch and, pressing down, remove the seat belt fastening cover;
  • remove the rear interior light and disconnect the electrical connector from it;
  • remove the rear ceiling mounting clips by turning them a quarter turn;

  • disconnect tube 1 (figure 10.26) from the rear window washer nozzle;

Caution: When disconnecting the tube from the rear window washer nozzle, water may leak out, so take precautions to prevent water from getting on the headliner.

  • disconnect electrical connector 1 (figure 10.27);
  • unscrew bolt 3 securing the ground wire to the door;

  • detach the protective corrugated cover 1 from the body (figure 10.28), covering the wires connecting the body and the rear door;
  • tie a thin long cord to the end of the wire harness;
  • pull the wire harness out of the door, untie the cord from it, and leave it in the door. In the future, the cord will be needed to install electrical wiring in the door;
  • have an assistant support the tailgate in the open position and detach the gas struts from the tailgate;
  • move the rear of the headliner away from the roof by approximately 10 cm;
  • loosen the nuts securing the tailgate hinges to the body and remove the door from the vehicle.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
  • when installing, use new tailgate mounting nuts and tighten them to a torque of 15 Nm;
  • adjust the position and clearances of the tailgate;
  • install the upper anchors of the rear side seat belts of the 3rd row of seats;
  • install gas-filled struts on the tailgate;
  • install the rear ceiling handles;
  • install the rear pillar upper trim panels;
  • install the rear side upper trim panels;
  • connect the ground wire to the battery;
  • check the functionality of electrical equipment;
  • initiate all electronic systems.
