Basic operations that can be carried out without removing the engine from the vehicle (Peugeot 305)

Without removing the engine from the car, you can perform the following operations:

• g. Removing and installing the timing case.

Since the oil pan and cylinder head on later models can be removed with the engine still in the car, it is theoretically possible to replace pistons, cylinder liners, and connecting rod bearings without removing the engine. However, it is not recommended to do this, since the work will be much easier if the engine is removed.
