The BE1/5 type manual gearbox found on models with XU series engines is significantly different from the BB8 gearbox used on early models. One of the fundamental differences is that the gearbox and engine on the latest models have completely separate lubrication systems.
2. The box has 5 forward gears (all with synchros) and one reverse gear. A traditional solution for 5-speed gearboxes was used, when the 5th gear parts are on the other side of the intermediate plate, on which 2 shaft bearings are installed.
3. The differential and main gear are in their own separate housing, bolted to the gearbox housing. Differential (main gear) have a common lubrication system with the box.
4. Models for certain countries may use the 4-speed version of the BE1 box. It differs from the 5-speed version only in the absence of 5th gear parts.
