89. These nuts can be loosened without removing the box from the car. To do this, put the gearbox into gear and apply the handbrake. Remove the end cover and loosen the input and output shaft nuts. (The drive shaft nut is integrated with the oil sprinkler). Replace the cover and proceed to further procedures for removing the box.
90. With the transmission removed from the car, the best way to lock the shafts from rotating is to engage any gear and lock the drive shaft with an old clutch disc with a metal rod welded to it (see B/Figure 12.58). Using any other method may damage the drive shaft splines.
