Replacing rubber seals is the only work that can be done on drive shafts. Wear or damage to the shaft or joints requires the installation of a new complete shaft. The rubber seals should only be replaced using the repair kit supplied by Peugeot. It also contains the prescribed amount of lubricant.

The parts of the constant velocity joint are mutually adjusted and should not be mixed or rearranged under any circumstances. After removing the cuff, clean its inner surface from grease, under no circumstances using a solvent for this.

When replacing the rubber cuff on the wheel side, the cuff on the gearbox side must also be replaced.

If the rubber seal is damaged, it is recommended to remove the drive shaft and take it to a service station. Only then will it be possible to introduce a sufficient amount of lubricant into the joints and properly tighten the cuff clamping straps. This is the best solution as it requires a special tool.

If an external inspection of the front wheel suspension reveals that the seals are torn or otherwise damaged, they should be replaced immediately to prevent dirt from getting into the joints.
