To remove the steering knuckle ball joint:
  • remove the steering knuckle;
  • secure the steering knuckle in a vice;

  • remove the protective plate 1 (figure 6.20);

  • install the FACOM NK41 L 1 bushing onto the steering knuckle joint (figure 6.18) and use a socket wrench to unscrew the ball joint from the steering knuckle.

To install the steering knuckle ball joint:
  • screw in the new ball joint of the steering knuckle by hand;
  • install the FACOM NK41 L 1 bushing onto the steering knuckle joint (see figure 6.18) and tighten the ball joint with a socket wrench to a torque of 230 N·m;

  • lock the ball joint nut by bending the nut flange into the recess of the steering knuckle (figure 6.19);
  • install a new protective plate 1 (see Figure 6.20) on the ball joint housing;
  • secure the protective plate by bending it onto one of the edges of the ball joint;
  • install the steering knuckle back into place.
