Note. Disable the ESP function when driving on a fast lane to avoid unwanted operation. This does not rule out damage to the ESP system. Because the tracking mechanisms of the sensor signals remain active.
To restore the ESP function, it is necessary to make several turns equally to the right and left and drive in a straight line for several kilometers. Switch off the ignition and switch it on again.
ASR function
The anti-slip feature prevents the vehicle's drive wheels from spinning. When one wheel spins, the ECU brakes that wheel, allowing engine torque to be transferred to the other wheel.
When both wheels spin, the ECU brakes both wheels and reduces engine torque.
On petrol engines, the ASR ECU controls the throttle valve and fuel injection advance.
On diesel engines, the ASR control unit affects the injection duration.
Thus, dynamic stability, traction properties and controllability of the car are provided.
The block diagram of the ASR function is identical to the block diagram of the ESP function, only the ECU software is different.
AFU function
When the brake pedal is depressed rapidly, the brake pedal speed information activates the brake force booster. Information about the speed of depressing the brake pedal is issued by a sensor installed on the valve body. AFU is an electronic function and does not require adjustment. The procedure for bleeding the brake circuit of cars with AFU is the same as for cars with a conventional brake system.
ABS/ESP ECU
The ABS/ESP control unit is integrated into the hydraulic unit.
ABS/ESP ECU:
1 - hydraulic block ABS / ESP;
2 - body;
a - electrical connector.
The unit is powered by «+» battery via one black 38-pin connector through the engine control unit.
Terminal No. 25 supplies the solenoid valves with voltage from «+» battery.
Pin assignment of the ABS/ESP ECU connector
ABS/ESP connector:
a - socket
38 - pin black;
b - chain No. 25;
c - chain number 1.
Steering wheel angle sensor
The steering wheel angle sensor calibration function is performed in two steps using a scan tool.
Angle calibration is necessary in case of toe adjustment, replacement of the ESP control unit, steering column switch, operations on the steering column or its support.
Before performing calibration, it is required to set the wheels in the direction of rectilinear movement.
Taring can be done in two ways.
The first way: moving in a straight line. The vehicle must be driven on a level road for approximately 100 meters without strong side winds. The vehicle must be stopped, paying special attention not to change the position of the steering wheel.
The second way: putting the wheels on the stand. Stand «Hunter» allows you to accurately set the front wheels. Run the calibration using the diagnostic equipment.
After completing the calibration, make sure that the zero mark of the steering angle is in place, after driving a distance of 1-2 km straight and with turns (the diagnostic tool must be switched off).
The malfunction indicator should not light up.
Note. During this test drive, it is not recommended to adjust the ESP, ABS or REF.
