1. The 1985 model has a low oil warning system installed on the crankcase. The system consists of an oil level sensor located in the sump, a signal lamp on the instrument cluster and an electronic control unit located under "torpedo".
2. When the ignition is turned on, an electric current passes through the oil level sensor. The change in the resistance of the sensor due to its heating by current varies depending on the depth of the sensor immersion in oil. The electronic control unit measures the change in the resistance of the sensor and determines from this data whether the oil level is too low.
3. If the oil level is normal, the signal lamp lights up for 2 seconds when the ignition is turned on and then goes out. When the oil level is low, the lamp does not go out after the first 2 seconds, but starts flashing.
4. The system does not work with the engine running, which is achieved by grounding the system control module through the low oil pressure warning light switch (Some late 1984 models do not have appropriate wiring, but it can be installed - consult the center "Peugeot").
5. The system warning light may flash even if the oil level is normal, if the machine is parked on a slope, or if the engine is turned off and on again before the oil has returned to the sump. In order for the lamp to stop flashing in this situation, you should move the machine to a level area or turn off the engine for a few seconds.
