18. Disconnect the downshift cable from the drum on the carburetor. Pull on the inner strand of the cable until resistance is felt (downshift start) and measure the distance from the crimped stop to the adjusting sleeve of the cable (see b/fig. 12.74). It should be equal to 39 mm. If necessary, loosen the stop, adjust the cable and compress the stop again.
19. Connect the cable to the drum. With the gas pedal released, there should be a small gap between the stop and the adjusting sleeve of the cable (maximum 0.5 mm) (see b/fig. 12.75). Loosen the locknuts of the adjusting sleeve and turn the sleeve to obtain the required clearance.
