18. Disconnect the downshift cable from the drum on the carburetor. Pull the inner conductor of the cable until you feel resistance (start of downshifting) and measure the distance from the crimped stop to the cable adjustment sleeve (see B/Figure 12.74). It should be equal to 39 mm. If necessary, loosen the stop, adjust the cable, and tighten the stop again.

19. Connect the cable to the drum. When the gas pedal is released, there should be a small gap between the stop and the cable adjustment sleeve (maximum 0.5 mm) (see B/Figure 12.75). Loosen the adjusting sleeve locknuts and turn the sleeve to obtain the required clearance.
