2. Remove the cap from the brake reservoir and seal the reservoir opening as indicated in section 6, paragraph 1. This will minimize fluid loss when the brake hose is disconnected.
3. Scrape dirt from the inside of the platter and clean the surfaces around the brake hose fitting, bleeder screw and 2 bolts holding the wheel cylinder to the platter (see photo).
4. Carefully disconnect the brake pipe from the hose and plug the open end of the pipe to prevent dirt from entering the system.
5. Unscrew and remove the 2 bolts securing the wheel cylinder. Unhook the upper coupling spring of the shoes and, spreading the shoes to the sides, remove the wheel cylinder.
5. If the cylinder is leaking and the brake pads are contaminated with brake fluid, they must be replaced on both rear wheels (see section 8).
6. Clean the outside of the cylinder with methanol and transfer it to a clean work bench for disassembly.
7. Remove the rubber boots from both ends of the cylinder and carefully pull out the pistons, cuff and spring. Pay attention to the location of the individual parts so that you can later install them in exactly the same order.
8. Inspect the inner surface of the cylinder for grooves, scratches, corrosion, etc. If defects are found, the cylinder must be replaced.
9. If the cylinder is in good condition, clean it thoroughly with methanol (do not use abrasive materials or scrapers that could damage the surface of the cylinder). After cleaning, dry the cylinder with a clean, lint-free cloth.
10. Pick up cuffs from the repair kit that are exactly identical to the old ones, and dip them into clean brake fluid before installation.
11. Lubricate the inside of the cylinder with clean brake fluid and install the spring, pistons and cuffs into it. Take care not to damage the cuffs when installing them in the cylinder. Install the rubber boots on the cylinder and wipe the assembly dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.
12. Installation of the wheel cylinder on the support disk is carried out in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following points:
- A. When connecting the brake pipe, be careful not to strip the thread of the pipe union.
- b. Install the brake drum (see section 7).
- V. Bleed the brakes and add brake fluid to the reservoir, remembering to remove the plastic film or plug with a sealed vent from the reservoir opening. Bleeding procedure see section 3.
